This will be our last week for Show and Tell.

The first graders have learned to project their voices more, be more comfortable in front of their classmates, and listen and answer questions from their peers.

I will be reading many wonderful stories to the children during our lunchtime.

**Just a Reminder: Spring Concert is next Thursday evening, May 15th, at 7:00. Children dress in their Sunday Best and need to please be in the classroom by 6:45.

Each week we will take a pretest, make corrections, and practice the correct spelling for homework.

~~ It will be important that these words are practiced everyday at home.

Second Step: We continue to talk about impulse control. We will discuss how to ignore distractions, and also how to deal with wanting something that isn’t yours.

***Please read the attached papers about the important steps to solve problems and how to calm down when you are upset. We have been discussing these steps frequently in class and many children are beginning to use these skills on the playground.

May Day: We began the day with our visit to the NorthCreek Rehabilitation Center to sing for many of the patients. The first graders did a wonderful job.

A big thank you to all the moms who helped with our May Day celebration later in the day. The children decorated a May basket to put their tissue paper flowers in, decorated Spring cookies to eat, and processed over to the statue of Mary to honor her through songs, prayers, and laying flowers at the statue.

It was a very nice day thanks to all of our volunteers.

J  Thank you, also, to Mrs. Swager for more playdough.
