Religion

The Focus in Religion this year is the Four Marks of The Church, learning to locate information in the Bible and about the Sacraments. Each grade has prayers they are to learn and show mastery in. Grade level prayers can be found on the download section of the site. At Saint Brendan we teach Second Step®, Steps To Respect®, and Talking about Touching. Our Text is Blest Are We

Math Math is currently under review. Staff is working to align our math curriculum to the newly released Core Content and and Strands. Our current text book in Grade Three is Mathematics by Scott Forseman. We place a strong emphasis of mastery of the basic facts.
Language Arts Grades K-5 use Open Court which is an integrated program.It is concentrated on reading and writing and builds on the natural curiosity and imagination of children.
Social Studies The focus this year is on Communities and is integrated with our Language Arts program.
P.E. Personal Fitness. Mr. Evans strives to teach the children to be conscience of their body levels and helps them learn what their target heart rate is. Every Friday is Fitness Friday and the children participate in a rotation of various fitness activities.
Technology/Library Mrs. Carlson teaches the students about the library system and shares award winning stories with them. In computer the students learn a variety of skills ranging from keyboarding to use of Power Point and other productivity programs.
Handwriting Beginning to learn cursive writing. We use the Zaner- Bloser method.
Science

Science is integrated throughout Language Arts. Topics could include, cause and effect, water, human body and the solar system.
