Dear Fourth Grade Families,

Today, the class begins the final three days of WASL testing.  It was nice to have a three-day break over Friday and the weekend.  We are taking the final writing test, expository writing, today.  Tomorrow we will be working on the Math assessment part 2, and Math part 3 on Wednesday.  Thank you for sending your students well-rested and with such positive attitudes.

Thursday, May 1st, we will join the First Grade class on a trip to the Bothell Care Center.  Together, the two classes will perform a series of Spring/St. Patrick’s Day songs for the residents and staff.  We will be leaving the portable at 9:45 and returning by 11:00.  Thank you to the parents who volunteered their mornings to drive us on this trip.  The students always do such a nice job.

Thursday is also the day that we will begin our study of the Mysteries and prayers of the Rosary.  We will say two decades of the Rosary at the end of each school day during May, the Month of Mary.  If your child has a rosary, please allow them to bring it to school for the month.  Do not send any priceless family heirloom rosaries.  We are careful but I can’t completely guarantee that an item might not be broken or taken.  I have many extra rosaries here for the children, if needed.  I invite you to join us any day at 2:50 as we say the Rosary together.  Participation by parents lends great importance to this special prayer.

Next week, Wednesday, May 7th, is our class trip to Tillicum Village on Blake Island.  It is such a wonderful celebration ending our Fourth Grade studies of Washington State and the Pacific Northwest.  We had twenty-one parents volunteer to drive and chaperone on this trip.  We are only allowed 8 spaces.  I hope that we were able to include all the volunteers of only or youngest students who had not made the trip before.  I keep carpool records every year so that parents not able to go with us with one child, will be given the first spots with later

children.  It is such a popular event.  Thank you all for your understanding.
