March 1, 2010
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Today, the faculty and staff are appearing
in blue jeans, a first for us, under the strict supervision of Mrs. Carlson,
our “principal for the day.” We are not
sure what other surprises await us.
We celebrate our Lenten service during
first period this morning. Our assembly
focus is on Lesotho, an African nation receiving our Rice Bowl donations
through Catholic Relief Services. The Fourth Grade families are also invited to
attend the Lenten Friday Soup Nights and Stations of the Cross. We are welcome each Friday but our special
invitation is for Friday, March 26th.
We will be attending
Mass twice this week. Thursday, the
Fourth Grade will celebrate Mass in the small chapel at 8:35. On Friday, we will celebrate an all-school
Mass in the church at 8:35.
We will be having some
extra practice time this week for our individual recitations of the Gettysburg
Address, due on Friday, March 5th.
We will also be working on the first drafts of our written reports which
are due on March 12th. I will
ask that you help your child in editing their rough drafts for errors in
spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and content. Any material included in the final report
must be in the research outline and the rough draft. Students may choose either cursive handwriting
or printing for their final copies. All
requirements are included in their project outline.
Dates:
Tuesday, March 2nd Science Unit test on magnetism and
electricity
Thursday, March 4th, Mass, 8:35
Friday, March 5th, Mass, Spelling Test
Saturday, March 6th, School Auction
Monday, March 15th, St. Patrick’s Day Potato Bake, we will be
singing! (Volunteer only)
May God bless your families during this
Season of Lent.
