Fifth Grade Families,

We’ve had a crazy start to the week, and plans have changed as a result.  Here’s the game plan as it stands now:

 

Important Dates:

1/31 – Peace & Justice Book Projects Due

2/1 – All School Mass (wear uniform + red)

2/1 Noon Dismissal

2/5 – Adjective and Adverb Assessment

 

Curriculum Notes

 

Religion: This week we will be looking at the parts of the Mass in preparation for a project where students will create a booklet outlining the Mass.  Project sheets will be coming home late this week or early next week.

 

Science: This week we are concluding our study of the worlds Biomes. We will have an assessment for this unit consisting of a project mapping and identifying the world’s major biomes. Details will be given out in class on Thursday.

 

 

 

Math:  We have started chapter eight, “Multiplication of Decimals.”  This week we will focus on multiplying decimals by whole numbers and choosing the correct operation.

 

Literature:  We will be finishing up our study of the selection “If You Lived at the Time of the American Revolution.”  The end of the lesson assessment is scheduled for Thursday.

 

Language Arts:  There will be no spelling test on the list for this literature lesson.  This week we will cover three lessons on adverbs – “What is an Adverb?,” Comparing with Adverbs,” and “Adjective or Adverb.”  A test on adjectives and adverbs is scheduled for next Tuesday.

 

Social Studies:  We are beginning to look at chapter eight, “Differences Divide Britain and its Colonies.”  This week we will work through the information in the first lesson.
