A Note about Report Cards
It has come to my attention that the report cards
sent home before the break were dated December 14, 2007. New report cards will be printed this
afternoon with the correct date and sent home tomorrow. Nothing will need to be sent back to school
regarding the re-printed report cards.
The cover sheet that went home on Friday needs to be signed and returned
with the envelope on or before Friday.
The fee for replacing lost cover sheets and/or envelopes is $1.00.
Curriculum Notes
Religion: We will be taking a closer look at prayer this week
with our study of chapter 12, “We Pray the Lord’s Prayer.” We will review this material on Thursday, and
the test on this chapter will be on Friday.
Science: No update from Mr. Fairbank this week.
Math: This week we
are looking at common denominators and comparing and ordering fractions. Toward the end of the week, we will look at
the relationship between fractions and decimals.
Social Studies: We will begin
looking at chapter 10, “A New Government Begins.” This week we will focus our attention on the
approval of the Constitution. Look for a
project sheet to come home on Thursday.
Literature: We are
beginning our new unit this week.
Students are encouraged to bring items for our new Concept/Question
board on “Our Corner of the Universe.”
This week we are reading a selection titled “The Universe.” Due to the half day on Friday, the
assessments for this selection will be on Thursday.
Language Arts: We will be
working with demonstrative pronouns (this, that, those, and these) and hyphens
this week.
Our spelling lesson this
week deals with Greek roots and irregular plurals. It is a difficult list, and merits a little
extra study before the spelling test on Thursday afternoon.
