Curriculum Notes
Religion: This week we are continuing our work with the second
grade religion vocabulary listed on the Archdiocesan website. We will have a lesson on Adoration from two
parent helpers (Sonja Garmanian and Kendra Carlton) in preparation for our
attendance at adoration on First Friday next week.
Students
will get their chapter three and Joyful Mysteries tests back in their yellow
folders this week. Everyone did very
well!
Science: This week we are turning in our “Earth’s Waters” text and receiving the “Matter and Energy”. We will begin this unit with an overview of structure and properties of matter.
Math: We are
continuing our study of measurement this week.
Besides tonight’s work on equal metric measurements, we will talk about
perimeter and area this week.
Literature: The
Literature Project for November is due Friday.
Several have already come in. There
will not be a book project due in December.
We
began our new unit today: Energy at Work.
Students will read and discuss an expository piece about Benjamin
Franklin this week, titled “The Sparks Fly.”
The
spelling list this week has 29 words on it!
Copies of the list were handed out today. Please help your child study for Friday’s
test.
Social Studies: The rough draft of the Frontier Story is now due on
Wednesday. Students will have a 45
minute class period tomorrow to work on their draft. Remember, no class time is set aside for work
on the extra credit map project.
The
chapter six test is on Thursday.
Students have had the study guide for nearly a week already, and should
be using it to take notes and focus their studying. I will answer any questions students have
about the study guide in class tomorrow and Wednesday.
In Christ,
Natalie Conrow
