5th Grade Newsletter: Week of December 3, 2007

Hi Parents,

What a crazy start to the week!  I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to send a newsletter out on Monday, but as the week is turning out, I’m changing many of my plans.  I will be in Lacey tomorrow visiting a school on an accreditation team.  Mrs. McCloskey will be subbing for me.  I hope this mid-week update helps your organize the rest of your week!

Important Date – Friday, December 7th:

Ø     Field Trip to Bothell Care Center

Ø     5th Grade to Adoration

Ø     Chapter 3 Math Test

Ø     Frontier Story final draft and extra credit map due

Ø     Noon Dismissal – Non-Uniform Day

Ø     End of First Trimester

Subject Update:

Language Arts/Social Studies:  The chapter six social studies test is coming home in today’s yellow folder.

Students were given two class periods to work on typing up their Frontier Story final drafts today.  Those who are not yet finished with it are now expected to finish it at home and be ready to turn it in on Friday.  The map portion of the project is EXTRA CREDIT.  All students are welcome to complete the extra credit map, which is also due on Friday.

Math: We are finishing up chapter three this week, and despite the loss of a day yesterday, the test will be on Friday morning.

Religion: Students were given a handout of the third grade religion vocabulary on Monday.  There will be some in class review tomorrow, and the quiz will be next week – most likely on Tuesday.

We are beginning our Advent discussion of where we see Jesus in our daily lives.  Tomorrow, students will be asked to write one place they have found Jesus this week to post on the shepherd on our classroom door.

I hope you were able to stay dry earlier this week and are ready for the holiday season that is upon us!
