Curriculum Notes

Religion: This week we are continuing our work with the third grade religion vocabulary listed on the Archdiocesan website. The quiz will be on Thursday.

We will also make Christmas cards to send the Camp Seymour staff.

Science: This week we will be studying the storage and movement of electrical charges in and through substances. This will include chapter 1.2 in our text.

Math: We are beginning our study of division (chapter four) this week.

Literature: This week we are reading an excerpt from Andrew Clement’s book, Jake Drake Know-It-All. Because of Friday’s art docent lesson, the assessment will be on Thursday.

Social Studies: Social Studies class will be interrupted this week with additional music practices in preparation for Friday’s concert. My goal is give the students an overview of Unit 4 (the Revolutionary War) this week.

English: In conjunction with our reading from Jake Drake Know It All, we will be working on writing a book review of another of Andrew Clement’s books, A Week in the Woods. This book has been our classroom read aloud for the past month. Students completed the pre-write on workbook page 97 today and will work through the writing process on this assignment in class this week. Workbook page 98 is a handy checklist for them to use as they complete the assignment. I have asked the students to focus on the writing trait of word choice for this assignment.
