6th Grade Newsletter: Week of February 20, 2008

Hi Parents,

With it being a short week, the newsletter isn’t very long.  I won’t be sending home Boomerangs this week, since it’s been only one school day since it went home last week.  Here is what we have planned:

Friday, February 22nd: Remember that 6th grade will be gone on the science field trip.  Each student needs to bring a sack lunch.

Language Arts:  I collected the students’ descriptive essays today.  After I have read them over and written suggestions on each student’s paper, they will be asked to revise their papers.  In the meantime, we will be working on possessive nouns in our English text.

Literature:  We will continue reading Tuck Everlasting this week.  Students will have time in class this week to finish reading through the end of chapter 8 and to work on the accompanying reading log.  Because we are a bit behind in our reading schedule, I have moved the due date for the chapter readings and log to Monday, 2/25.

Religion: Today we watched the movie Moses, since we have just finished learning about the story of the Exodus.  We will start Chapter 6, entitled Passover and the Eucharist Celebration, on Thursday.  Please note:  Every student needs to return the Family Life form that was sent home in the Wednesday envelope last week.  We will begin this unit in March and each student needs to have this form returned as soon as possible.

Science: We are going to the Museum of Flight for our field trip studying flight on Friday. Remember to bring a sack lunch, and wear school uniforms. We will be leaving right after morning carpool and return before afternoon carpool.

Have a great, short week everyone!  J
