Subject Update

Language Arts/Literature: Much of our afternoons this week will be spent working on the Tuck Everlasting project, which is due on Friday.  In addition, the students will be working on an in-class writing assignment (pertaining to Tuck Everlasting), in which they will be asked to respond to the question “If you had the opportunity to drink from the spring, would you?”  They will need to weigh the pros and cons of living forever and justify their choice.  With Art Docent on Wednesday and an early dismissal on Friday, we won’t have a great deal of time for much else.  There will be no Spelling this week.

Math: This week the sixth graders will be working on multiplying fractions.  They will probably have their quiz Wednesday, since we do not have class Friday and Thursday’s class will be short.  Have a blessed Easter and a great spring break. – Mrs. Riley

Religion: The Chapter 7 test is on Tuesday.  Much of the week will be spent with Holy Week activities.  If time allows, we will begin Chapter 8, which is entitled ‘Our Journey and God’s Presence.’ This chapter continues with the Israelites journey to the promise land.

Science: This week we will be conducting experiments and making observations of achieved motion through different levels of force related to an object’s mass. We will be observing ramps of various inclinations combined with various amounts of mass.

Social Studies: We will be spending this week reviewing for the chapter six test.  We will talk about the final skills lesson in the chapter tomorrow.  We will spend most of the period on Wednesday, and the whole period on Thursday reviewing for the test using the study guide and page 271 in the textbook.  The test is on Thursday.

I wish everyone a very safe and relaxing Easter break!  Take care,

Pam Schwartz J
