6th Grade Newsletter: Week
of
Hello Parents,
I hope that all of you mothers had a wonderful day
yesterday! We have a lot of special
things going on in 6th grade this week. With the extra music practices, the field
trip, and practicing for Mass on Friday, we have some condensed classes this
week. Here is a recap of all that’s
coming up:
Important Dates
Ø Wednesday, May 14th: Field trip to St. James Cathedral (see below for more information), final draft of persuasive essay due

15th: Boat project due; Spring concert, students need to in
the classrooms at
Ø
Friday, May 16th:
School Mass at
Ø Tuesday, May 20th: Religion test over Chapter 11 & 12
Ø Wednesday, May 21st: 6th grade Bothell Police Partners (formerly D.A.R.E) graduation in gym at 11:15, please join us if you can!
Ø Thursday, May 22nd: Daily Mass, Human Growth & Development lesson (see Religion for further info.)
Subject Update
Literature/Language Arts: Today, we spent 1-1/2 hours in the lab typing up the
final drafts of our persuasive essays.
These are due on Wednesday; in case students need some more time to
finish typing them. We will also
continue our English unit on verbs.
Math: We will be continuing to work with Geometry this
week. There will be a quiz on
Thursday.
Religion: We are
finishing up with Chapter 12 this week.
The students will have a test over Chapters 11 & 12 on Tuesday of
next week. I will be handing out a study
guide tomorrow (Tuesday). Students
should be finishing their boat projects this week also, as they are due on
Thursday.
Next Thursday, May 22nd
the 6th graders will receive the much-anticipated Human Growth and
Development lesson in family life. Mrs.
Conrow and I will be teaching the girls, while Mr. Fairbank and Mr. Evans will
be teaching the boys. A pamphlet with
information about the lesson will be going home with the students that
day. If you would like to preview it
before the lesson, please let me know and I will forward a copy to you.
***As you know, on Wednesday
we are taking a field trip to tour St. James Cathedral downtown. We will be leaving around
Science: This week we begin our study of wetlands. We will
begin with an introduction to the four primary types of wetlands and some of
the distinguishing characteristics of each.
Social Studies: We are finishing up our study of Ancient Rome.
