Academic Information

Language Arts:  The majority of the week will be spent on trying to finish up the unit on verbs.  We are on a normal schedule for spelling and root of the week this week.  Ryan, Evan, and Jessica will be giving current events presentations.

Literature:  We are continuing with our Poetry unit that we started before break.  We will be reading 6-7 different poems and discussing key concepts such as types of rhyming, rhythm, repetition, and figurative language.  The students were given an assignment today based on a poem we read about doing chores.  They are to write a rhyming poem describing a chore they don’t like to do.  This is due on Friday when we will be sharing them in class.  Also in Literature, the March independent reading requirements are due on Friday.

***Please note:  Many students have not yet turned in the $16.00 for our field trip next week.  Please help your child turn these in.  Thank you to all of you who volunteered to drive!  I will be sending you an email in the next day or so to confirm the times and such.

Math:  This week the seventh graders will begin working on ratios and proportions.

They will receive their second WASL packet on Monday and this is due next Monday, April 7.  It is really important that they write a clear and detailed explanation on questions that ask them to explain their answer.

This week the students will choose the stocks they want to buy and begin checking the price of their stocks at least three times a week for six weeks. (May 16)

The first math progress report for this trimester will be sent home on Wednesday, April 9.
