Seventh graders are working
to create a family flag. The flag is to
use colors, pattern and a symbol to represent family values, interests and
achievements. Students are not to write,
draw or color directly on the flag. This
is the first of a two-part assignment and complements our study of national
symbols. I will introduce the second
part of the assignment either Thursday or early next week.
Students have finished
Chapter 5. We have begun reviewing in
preparation for a chapter test next week.
Today I reminded the students
of my expectations regarding the quality of their homework as well as their
behavior in the classroom during independent work time.
Language Arts
Today we did some additional
practice in writing appositive phrases. We will be reviewing introduction
and conclusion strategies this week as well. The students will be
practicing some of these strategies with their own papers. Finally, we
will continue working in Unit 1 of our English text, discussing conjunctions
and run-on sentences.
Literature: Today I
handed back the students’ grades for the September independent reading
requirements. Please be sure to remind your student that he/she needs to
be reading for 20 minutes each night. This week we will be finishing up
the short story “Zoo” and working on some note taking skills with non-fiction
pieces.
Please note: The 7th
graders will be receive progress reports from me tomorrow (Tuesday) in
Literature, Language Arts, and Spelling. Please review them, sign each
report, and return them with your student by Thursday. As always, please
let me know if you have any questions. Mrs. Schwartz
Math
I would like to thank
everyone for signing and returning the math progress reports. The next reports will be sent out on October
17.
This week in math we will be
working on the following:
·
Solving addition
and subtraction equations
·
Solving

Have a great week!!!
