Dear Parents,

Here is the academic information for the week.

Religion 7th Grade

Seventh graders presented the liturgy at our School Mass last Thursday. Parishioners, parents, and students enjoyed the living Rosary as we honored Mary and St. Luke.

Linda Haptonstall visited the class last Tuesday to talk about Malawi. She showed a video from her visits to Malawi and shared art work. We were impressed with the students’ knowledge and questions they shared from their research. Linda will visit again in November as we firm up our Malawi service project plans.

This Friday, October 26th, there is a Unit 1 Religion Test. This test covers Chapters 1 through 4. Your child has study guide which we will review in class.

Your child has a parent Permission Form to visit the Northcreek Nursing home next Friday, November 2nd. Please complete the form, sign, and return it to me by next Monday. Also indicate if you can drive. We leave school about 9:45 and return by 10:45.  Thank you, Mrs. Lunn

Social Studies

Seventh graders appear to have survived their first chapter test.  They seemed well-prepared and worked diligently during the class period.  I allowed them as much time as they needed to complete the test.  I also made sure they saved time to eat.  I look forward to reading their answers.

We march on in world history to Chapter 10 – Empires in Asia and the Americas.  We have talked about how leaders support the development of a strong culture.  We will likely complete Lesson 1 this week.

This week, we will return to working on the family flag writing

Math

I do quizzes a little different.  The students take a quiz three weeks in a row (same material, different problems).  They get the highest two scores of the three. Each Friday, there are three quizzes on one sheet of paper.  Each quiz is for one week of work and counts as 5 points.  There are never more than 3 quizzes or 15 problems on a Friday.  If you look your child’s quiz from last Friday, you will see quiz 4-3, 5-2 6-1. It was the last time for quiz 4, the second for quiz 5 and the first for quiz 6.

7th grade will be working on the following:

·        Solving two step equations

·        Using a formula
