The students are finishing up their revisions on the writing assignment from last week. They were asked to revise four ordinary, dull sentences into descriptive, vivid paragraphs using sensory words. We will start Unit 2 in the English text later in the week. Students have their regular spelling and root of the week exercises this week, as well.
Literature
This is the last week in October, which means that the independent reading requirements are due on Wednesday. Please take a moment to check your student’s progress. We are still working on the Scholastic news edition and practice test from last week. Once we complete this, we will be moving on to the next short story in our text, ‘The Luckiest Time of All.’

You should be so proud of your seventh grade students!! I handed back the Chapter 9 tests today and the results are out of this world! Their hard work in preparing for the test paid off. The scores they earned were outstanding. I am so happy for them. What I value more than the grade, however, is that your kids learned about leaders, events and accomplishments in each of the Empires and were able to compare their similarities. Please take a few minutes to congratulate your student for his or her success.
We continue to explore the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties in
Two copies of the Family Flag paragraph are due tomorrow, Tuesday 10/30. One copy is to be cut and mounted on a colored piece of paper. (The color should match one of the colors in the family flag.) This copy will be hung in the hallway with the flag. The second copy is for grading purposes.
Math
The 7th grade class will have a test on Wednesday, Oct. 31, covering chapters 1 and 2. On Monday, they will review for the test by doing page 75. What they do not finish in class will be homework. We will correct the page in class on Tuesday, and the students will take the corrected page home and use it as a study guide. I will collect it before the test on Wednesday.
