Dear Parents,

This week all students will be taking the ITBS (The Iowa Test of Basic Skills).  Make sure your child gets to bed early and eats a good breakfast so they are ready for testing.

The 7^th graders have a field trip, Thursday, to the Museum of Flight.  Don’t forget to turn in permission slips.

7^th grade goes to mass on Friday.  They need to remember to wear their red sweatshirts.

We are halfway through Chapter 10 – Empires in Asia and the Americas.  Tomorrow, we begin Lesson 3, the Development of Japanese Culture.  Students will be working hard this week!  My plan is to have a Study Guide ready for them toward the end of the week, looking toward a quiz in the short Thanksgiving week.  I will have firm dates for you (and them) Wednesday.

Literature & Language Arts:  As you know, this week the 7^th graders will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS).  The majority of our class time will be spent on this.  Today we finished reading and discussing the story ‘The Amigo Brothers’.  The students will have a short quiz over this story on Friday.  They will have time during class to re-read the story and prepare for it.  There will be no spelling or Root of the Week exercises. 

The 7^th graders are going on a field trip to the ACT Theatre on December 4.  Permission slips were handed out last week.  Please, return them as soon as possible.

Math:  The 7^th grade students will be completing the math section of the ITBS, during math, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, this week.  On Tuesday and Friday we will be working on estimation with division.

Math progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday, Nov. 14.  Please sign and have your child return them by Friday, November 16.
