December 17, 2007

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that it is the end of the year and Christmas is here.  I hope all the families have a blessed and joyous Christmas.

Here are the important events for this week:

·        Tuesday, December 18; Advent retreat for 6th, 7th and 8th grade from12:00-3:00

·        Wednesday, December 19; the 8th graders will be selling yoyos at recess ($6.00-$15.00)

·        Thursday, December 20; Adoration at 11:30 for 7th and 8th grade.

·        Thursday, December 20; Yoyo assembly at 2:00

Literature/Language Arts:  We are spending the week finishing up the persuasive essays the students began writing last week.  They will be completing their peer conferences and making their final revisions, then typing the final draft.  It is due on Thursday.

Seventh grade Social Studies:

Travel Brochure Project – Students have 3 additional class periods to work on their travel brochures.  The project will be due Wednesday at the beginning of the regular history class period.  I will make a decision when I see the results whether or not this is a draft or final version.

Chapter 10 Test – Wednesday, December 19.

Students will be given the test essay question the night before.  (There will be a choice – students will choose ONE question to answer.)  The essay question requires students to synthesize, make connections and interpret information.  It is OK for students to use notes and the textbook as they outline this answer.  Students will be required to turn in the outline.

Students will begin the history test in Religion Class and complete it in their regular history class period.  They can look forward to Wednesday as one long history class!

Thank you for the blessing of your children.  They are a delightful group of young people.

I wish you all a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy 2008.

Math: This week the seventh graders will be working on solving equations involving decimals.
