5th grade

This week we will continue to study our Tenebrio Observation Habitats, watching the development or our organisms and maintaining a fresh food supply for our specimens. We will also study a more detailed anatomy of an insect, including external and internal structures.

6th grade

This week we will be summarizing Newton’s three Laws of Motion. We will also be studying how Newton convinced the world that Aristotelian physics and ideas about motion were incorrect. We will do this through duplicating Newton’s experiment with levers and pendulums.

7th grade

The testing of our earthquake proof structures went very well! There was a great amount of creativity demonstrated in the construction designs. This week we will begin to look more closely at the components and characteristics of various minerals. We will begin with the Moh’s scale and move into color, streak, and luster in the identification of minerals.

8th grade

The students all did an excellent job with our worm dissection last week. This week we will study the nervous system in greater detail. We will also explore other systems in the human body, observing how they relate to the nervous system, beginning with the skeletal system.
