Principal’s Report:

  • Steps to Respect meeting will be held on November 15th, 2006.  One parent from each household is expected to attend.
  • Diaper Bag Project/Thanksgiving assembly will be on November 22nd, 2006 starting at 10:30am.
  • December 4th and 11th there will be advent services for the school children.  It will be a time to be more prayerful and to meet the parish staff.
  • December 8th will be the Immaculate Conception mass for the school children.
  • January 5th will be a full day of school.
  • An unannounced fire drill was conducted and it went smoothly.  All grades reacted very well.  Future fire drills will be conducted through out the year at different times of the school day.
  • A recommendation regarding the school uniform change was brought to Mrs. Lunn by Carolyn Casey and Adele Kroeger.  It is recommended that additional vendors be added for the uniform pants and the red shirts be included for the 7th and 8th grader students.  Mrs. Lunn will take the recommendations to the School Commission for approval.
  • Play ground/Covered Area Funds – Mrs. Lunn brought up the discussion of what the plans are for the play ground/covered area.

School Commission Report:

  • Before and after school care is being researched by Bird Clark and Geetha Beauchamp.
  • Mrs. Lunn would like to reevaluate the salary scale for teachers.  We currently are paying the minimum amount recommended.
  • Father Jim has great concerns that St. Brendan Parish School families are not attending mass on a regular basis.  He would like some discussion regarding attendance.

Treasurer Report:

·        Still in learning mode.  Working on spreadsheet.

Committee Reports:

·        Emergency preparedness -  Evacuation routes have changed to make evacuation safer and quicker.  Lines have been painted in school parking lot for children to line up at by grade.  New plan worked well in the last unannounced fire drill.

There were some security issues brought to the schools attention.  Unfavorable objects have been found in the school’s play area.  Tim Schwartz will talk to the parish regarding trimming back shrubs.  Tim will work on creating a schedule for play grounds to be checked prior to school hours.

Short term goals – Have supplies in all classrooms for long lockdowns.  For example: water and food.

Long term goals – In checking the current inventory of emergency packets it was noted that the supplies are loaded with sodium.  We currently would not have enough water for a long period lockdown.  Tim brought up the idea of charging parents a one time fee for emergency preparedness supplies.  The committee would then stock the supplies with more appropriate items.

Earthquake Drill – All went well except for the child release program.  It will need to be updated.

·        Hospitality - December 5th will be staff Latte’ Day.  All staff lunches have been great!  Well appreciated!

·        Sally Foster – Sales went well!  The school made $17,500 profit.  Way to go!!!

·        Scrip – Holiday preorders forms are ready.  Sales are down so far this year.  Two reasons were discussed:  Not easily accessible and no motivation to buy for school families.  Some incentive ideas were discussed.  Ideas will be researched and discussed again in January.
