Attendees:

Carolyn Casey (Co-President), Adele Kroeger (Co-President), Cynthia Ponti (Treasurer), Kim Kramer (Secretary), Monica Carlin (Past-President), Laurie Vasquez (Hospitality), De Anna Loutsis, Julie Flor (Box Tops) and Peggy Harnden (Auction)

 

Opening:

The PTO meeting was called to order by Carolyn Casey at 7:05pm with a prayer.  The meeting minutes from the November 9, 2006 were reviewed and approved.

 

School Commission:

New Uniforms – There will be fabric swatches for school families to review.  There will also be pictures for viewing.

 

Auction – The School Commission will be donating a dessert of the month for auction bidding.

 

Before/After School Care – Still under review.

 

Family Life Presentation – Grades 5-8 parent presentation for Family Life.  Required attendance of at least one parent from each family.

 

Treasurer Report:

Balance as of December 31st, 2006 is $44,000

 

Parents Club - $36,000

 

Special Club - $2,575

 

Auction:

The auction committee is working hard!  Everything is going fine.  The catalog is currently being worked on.  The returned RSVP’s look good.  There are extra invites in the school office.  Peggy is planning on creating a schedule for shifts for all volunteers.  The committee is still looking for high school volunteers.  Procurement items are looking great!

 

Box Tops:

February 15th is the end of collecting box tops.  We are hoping to earn $500-700 dollars.

 

Hospitality:

During Catholic Schools Week the staff was served a breakfast.  It was a wonderful treat for our incredible staff!

Old Business:

Reader Board – It’s here!  It looks great!  Lynn Wygant will be responsible for keeping it updated.

 

Hot Lunch:

The new hot lunch program seems to be running smoothly.  Adding a 4th day is being considered.  Sandy Moran will be asked to give us some insight on whether or not school families would be interested. 

 

President’s Report:

Contract Changes – The following changes have been made to the school contract they are pending approval from School Commission:

                       

*          Auction – If there is no Auction and Procurement Chair, as well as 80% of the Auction team, in place by June 1st, there will be no school auction for that year.  Each family will then be required to buy-out the auction proceeds to fulfill the PTO financial commitment to the school budget.

 

*          Volunteer Hours – 45 hours for a two-parent family and 30 hours for a single-parent family.  Each family may buy-out their volunteer hours at a rate of $20/hour payable by September 15th.

 

*          Accountability – Families will be charged the full cost of educating a child at St. Brendan School if contract is not fully fulfilled. 

 

Classroom Auction Baskets – Each family will be asked to contribute $10/child towards the classroom baskets.  All basket coordinators will send out a letter explaining the theme of each basket and ask for additional procured items.
