BEARY
WELCOME FRIENDS
January 18, 2011
Dear
Parents,
Tuesday we will start Unit 4 “ The Wind” (see attached
letter). We continue to be working on oral blending. Students
are learning individual letter sounds and oral blending
activities will merge with regular phonics in a natural way.
We will investigate the initial and final sound of Ss in
words. We will hear the story “Can you see the wind?” and
“Gilberto and the wind”. Review sight words and recognizing all
of the upper and lowercase letters from Aa-Zz. I will begin to
test these letters and words at the end of this month.
Chapter 8 in Religion will talk about the students appreciating
the family that God has given them and celebrate the love they
share in their families. We also continue to discuss the
Touching Rule with Lesson 13 in our Touching Safety unit. The
children will identify what to do if someone breaks the Touching
Rule (A bigger person should not touch your private body parts
except to keep you clean and healthy.)
In
Math we are concentrating on counting, ordering and comparing
numbers to 20.
